Warning: Spoilers Ahead for Landman Season 1
Landman Season 1 Recap
Landman, Taylor Sheridan’s oil industry drama, wrapped up its first season in January. While Paramount+ hasn’t confirmed a Season 2 renewal, we expect it. The Season 1 finale left many unresolved issues.
What Happened in the Season 1 Finale?
Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton), the flawed hero, finds himself in tough situations. After the death of his boss, Monty Miller (Jon Hamm), Tommy takes over as president of M-Tex Oil—a role he didn’t want. He must close a crucial exploratory drilling deal that could bankrupt the company, all while working with Rebecca (Kayla Wallace), an attorney he doesn’t trust.
Tommy’s Growing Challenges
Tommy Norris also faces a drug cartel moving products across M-Tex’s land. Gallino (Andy Garcia), his new contact, wants Tommy’s help in getting the cartel into the oil business. This precarious relationship will add stress to Tommy’s already complicated life.
Family Tensions
Tommy’s ex-wife Angela (Ali Larter) is high-maintenance, while his daughter Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) is a handful. His son, Cooper (Jacob Lofland), is in a dangerous relationship with Ariana (Paulina Chávez), the widow of his late coworker.
Tommy’s Overwhelming Plate
Tommy’s life is a mess with family and cartel issues. Expect even more drama when Season 2 arrives.
Has Landman Been Renewed for Season 2?
Paramount+ hasn’t officially renewed Landman for Season 2. However, the show is its most-watched original, backed by strong Nielsen streaming numbers. Paramount hasn’t canceled any Sheridan shows yet, so it’s likely Landman will continue.
Potential Season 2 Production Timeline
Although not officially confirmed, Demi Moore, star of Landman, hinted at filming Season 2 in early 2025. She mentioned it in May 2024, months before Season 1 aired. While nothing is confirmed, a Season 2 is highly expected.
Landman Season 2 Premiere Date Prediction
Predicting a premiere date for Taylor Sheridan shows is tricky due to factors like actor schedules and Sheridan’s creative process. However, if production for Landman begins in early 2025, the wait between seasons could be relatively short. Sheridan’s Lioness took just 15 months between Seasons 1 and 2, despite the 2023 strikes. If Demi Moore’s timeline holds, Landman Season 2 could premiere in late 2025 or early 2026.
Landman Season 2 Cast
Most of the Season 1 cast is expected to return for Season 2, including:

- Ali Larter as Angela Norris, Tommy’s ex-wife, with whom he’s rekindled a relationship.

Jon Hamm, who played Monty Miller, will not return for Season 2 after his character’s death in Season 1.
Demi Moore’s Role in Season 2
Jon Hamm hinted that Moore’s character, Cami, will have a much larger role in Season 2, with more room to grow and develop.
Landman Source Material
Landman is based on the Boomtown podcast by Texas Monthly, which covers the oil industry in the Permian Basin. The podcast ran for 12 episodes from 2019 to 2020 and was named one of the best podcasts of 2020 by The Atlantic.
The podcast was reported, written, and hosted by Christian Wallace, who co-created Landman with Taylor Sheridan. Wallace, a former roughneck and Texas Monthly editor, shares that while Landman is largely accurate about the oil industry, some elements were adjusted for dramatic effect.
Where to Watch Landman
Season 1 of Landman is available for streaming on Paramount+, alongside other Sheridan shows like Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, 1883, 1923, Lioness, and Lawmen: Bass Reeves.
